Oriental Stole by Laroslava Rud - Around the World Shawls, part 1

Mod Note: Shawl is stranded and requires knowledge of steeking (cutting the wool to create openings in cardigans, vests and shawls so they can be knit seamlessly in the round). I strongly recommend the use of a strong, sticky, woolly wool that is NOT superwash. An expert knitter could use superwash and a sewing machine to reinforce the steeks but if you use a wool common in stranded, Fair Isle and traditional Scandinavian & Icelandic designs, you won't need to reinforce with a machine; the sticky wool will felt on its own. Steeking is not scary: google if you've never done it before.
