The Contrasting Wrap Sweater is a luscious and cozy sweater you’ll want to wear all winter long – its contrasting stripes provide just enough interest to keep the knitting fast while the A-line shape is flattering to a variety of shapes and sizes. The body is knit in one piece to the armholes and then rejoined at the shoulders for the collar. The sleeves are knit flat and sewn to the body.
Finished Size 14 (15½, 16½, 17, 17½, 17½)“ shoulder measurement; 32 (36, 40, 44, 48, 52) bust measurement (the fronts of this sweater overlap and there is no true bust measurement, the ones listed here are actually double the back measurement underneath the arms—please choose your size based on both measurements.) Cardigan shown measures 14”, modeled with slight ease.
Yarn Angel’s Kiss Worsted Alpaca (60% alpaca, 40% merino wool; 200yds / 3.5 oz 100 g): gray tones MC, 4 (5, 6, 6, 7, 8) skeins; squash CC, 1 (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins.
Needles Size US 9 (5.5 mm): 24” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers; stitch holders; scrap yarn; tapestry needle; size I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook.
Gauge 16 sts and 20 rows = 4” in Stockinette stitch.
Notes: The body is knit in one piece up to the armholes, then split and knit separately until the shoulders. A three needle bind-off is used to join the shoulders and the collar is knit straight up from there. The first and last 2 stitches of the body will be in Double Garter Stitch Selvage, markers can be used to separate these stitches if desired.
Errata: The sleeve cap shaping should read -- Dec 1 st each edge every other row 16 (17, 19, 18, 17, 15) times, then every row 2 (3, 3, 7, 12, 17) times—8 sts rem.
