How do you maintain momentum to earn pins / credits if you have ADHD?

I'm only on Day 3 and I feel my hyperfixation dwindling because of the lack of obvious directions/missions to achieve credits. (I've figured the pins part)

I did I left a response commenting on the quality but it was full of those "spam"-like comments of ~thank you~. I chose it because it was the most downloaded too!

I post thank you only when I download. It is NOT spam. Just good manners.  Post time 2026-6-16 16:57

I had a similar issue where I spent 200 pins on a scanned pattern but the quality was so bad!

Leveling up takes time and patience and activity on the Forum. I am here 4-5 days a week, several times a day.

Is Pattern Maker only available on windows? I’m a Mac and iOS user and couldn’t find any (free) co ...

Pattern maker is a program to create cross stitch pattern files.

On Mac, you can use winstitch's (which has a mac version, macstitch!)

To use the pattern for stitching, there is a program called 'cross stitch saga' on android or iOS. it will work with various types including XSD

none of them are free of course but you may find it here or on other cheeky websites sharing for free. I'm not very familiar with iOS and apple type programs, sorry...

I just joined and tbh I'm pretty confused about how to earn stuff too ?

Best way is to post new patterns on the website. If you bought something off ravelery for example, check it's not uploaded already and pop it in.

You can upload free patterns too, btw. But there's a limit on how much the 'download cost' you add can be.

For reference: There's a default pin cost to download any file (imposed by pindiy website) and then uploader can add extra fee that goes to the uploader.

My technique is to post patterns I own from the past, and then there is a slow passive earning of pins.

You can also do some 'repaints' of scanned patterns if you don't own any pattern to share

the easy program to use for that is pattern maker 4, also available on these forums.

I found the repetitive nature of repainting leads to hyperfocus.

But you're right in that nothing happens here fast. Everything is at a relaxed pace.

I have a hard time with maintaining momentum too. Been here 2 years almost and I log in a few times a month whenever I feel like it and check out the new patterns. Pinbks is easier because there is a "target" to meet like you said, to transfer the pins. Here I mostly comment on patterns to obtain credits. It's a slow process but since there isn't really a reason for me to want a higher user group, it doesn't bother me.

There are some patterns not accessible to lower levels, - i found two of them, maybe there's more.

I assume that pricing and patterns are uploaded by users. Why would they choose to make it harder to access? I thought the more people purchase your patterns the quicker one levels up too!

whenever i pick up my knitting needles, i try to log in and do some tasks. once in the beginning and another at the end of a knitting session. of course, i don't push myself too hard if i forget, but because i'm slowly working on a project, once i finish, i have (theoretically) accumulated enough credits for the next pattern

What do you get from levelling up on PinDIY anyway? To me, leveling up on Pinebk is more obvious (to transfer the pins here lol)

It seems to me that it is quicker to level up here but more difficult to get pins and vice versa on Pinebk

It's a strange system, I guess to encourage engagement? It's so difficult I think I'd rather actually pay for patterns tbh

I too have thought about purchasing pins as I think my time might be more valuable than the cost of the pins
