What is the difference between credits and pins?

I have 50 credits, what do i do with them?

Pins are a sort of currency used to buy patterns on PinDIY.
One can earn posting patterns, threads, replies.

Credits are calculated through the following formula:

Credits = ( Posts×0.1 + Threads×0.26 + Digests×5 + Online Time (hours)/2.6)

Credits are used to progress through the various levels: once you reach a specific amount of credits you upgrade to the next level.
For instance illiterate (who is currently DIY 1) needs 76 more credits to reach level 2.

One may check how many credits are needed to the next level by hovering over the purple bar under one's avatar post.
