One reason is because the booklets are small; only about 6" x 10" or so. Ive purchased several patterns over the years, which is how I know (most wore out, or disappeared, and I didnt feel like paying for them again).

The larger scans are probably because someone made the effort to use full size images. Some of the ones I shared had to be fixed because each page was a different size and the .pdf looked awful, IMO. THAT is probably due to someone being lazy and/or not knowing what theyre doing or how to fix something with a simple graphics program.
