When you upload the pattern you should upload a picture of the pattern at the same time.. It is all explained here....http://www.pindiy.com/forum.php? ... hlight=uploading...
It is a very good step by step guide to uploading... If it helps print out the pages and put them together in a booklet form and then follow it step by step..... I did this when I first joined the site and it helped me a lot.... Good luck...
