For me personality, i'd like to browse through the most downloaded crochet or knitting patterns, but i think such a function could be interesting for every craft

I've honestly found that the number of replies has nothing to do with popularity or downloads. I have seen posts with a lot of replies but only a few downloads. Some people reply just for the 10 Pins you get.

I have seen recently “ my Jose hood”  knitting pattern with 5567 downloads in french version!

To be honest I was thinking that Sophie scarf could be a winner lol

You can sort the forum by "hot", or if you click on "more" and then "replies". It will give a good indication of the most popular patterns.
