Koyamae is worked seamlessly from the top down, beginning with Italian tubular cast-on for the neckband. Next, shoulder bands are worked while the back and front neck stitches are set aside. Stitches are picked up along the edges of shoulder bands and the neck stitches are worked again to join the two shoulders. Shoulders and neck are shaped back and forth using German short rows. The yoke is then worked in the round with raglan increases to the underarm. The sleeve stitches are set aside and the body is worked in the round to the hem. Sleeves are worked top-down in the round.
