Its the 22th anniversary of Blue Moon Fiber Arts and the 12th anniversary of this great sweater.
They just couldnt leave well enough alone.
This is the original design. It has a seam down the back.
The designer is aware that we purchased the pattern from Blue Moon but if we want her extra special super duper update, no she wont give us a complimentary update.
She wants us to spend money on this revised edition that basically just tells you how to make the sweater without the seam. Her words:
We’re celebrating with a ground-up, brand-new rebuild on the pattern, with a new XS/S size, tons of schematics, and tutorials to help you on your way ... There’s even a new companion PDF with instructions on how to work up your Traveling Sweater with a ‘no-spine’ back ... The original edition of the pattern was released by Blue Moon. This re-issue under my label represents a significant body of new work, so if you own the original pattern and want all the bonus features of the Anniversary re-issue in your Ravelry library, you’ll be purchasing the new edition here. We know that you’re trusting us with your precious creative funds at a tough time, so we’ve done everything we can to build in a ton of value into this edition.
There isnt anything wrong with the original other than the designer isnt making money from it anymore but she will be on her new, better than sliced bread edition under her very own label.
If you want to fancy schmancy newest edition then by all means. Let us know whether it was worth it.
Or you could lurk in the KAL and see what all the fuss is about. Just muttering aloud ... lol
There are comprehensive instructions in the original pattern:
Sizes: extra small (small, large, extra large); 36 (40, 48, 56)
It’s the fit from underarm to underarm across the back that’s the most crucial, since the front drapes open.
The back span of the smaller size is 22-1/2”; of the larger size, 25”. So if you are larger than the listed bust sizes, please do not shy away from this sweater! Consider the circumference of your bra band when choosing which size to knit. Anyone up to a 40-44” band circumference could enjoy the smaller size; up to a 50” band could wear the larger size… Regardless of your cup size!
Just saying.
