Jolene is a shirt/shirt-dress with plenty of pretty details. Its waist slightly fitted but still comfortable to be worn in the everyday, its gathered strapped cuttings for a perfect fitting and a romantic look, and its singular buttoning for a little folk country spirit but genuinely modern. It was important for me that Jolene was not retro, my inspiration does not come from the fifties shirt-dresses. I wanted this design to be modern with just a pinch of amish, it is neo-retro.
The pattern is available in two designs – shirt – or – shirt-dress – and different options and lengths.
- Rounded or pointy collar.
- Dolman or ¾ sleeves.
- Midi length or knee-length for the dress.
- Straight or rounded peplum for the shirt.
To sew Jolene, I would advise you to use a fabric with a good body for the pointy collar version (chambray, light denim fabric), on the other hand many fabrics can adapt to the rounded collar version (batiste, middle weight viscose, chambray, light denim fabric, broderie anglaise fabric or tencel and cupro are absolutely indicated).
The pattern’s level is intermediate: the dolman sleeves version will be easier than the ¾ sleeves version, which has set-in sleeves. |
