Upper West Sweater is all about this cable motif - it’s both delicate and bold at the same time, and it’s so fun to work.
As an allover panel, it creates a deep eye-catching texture across the body of the sweater.
Armhole shaping is deliberately designed by size to move the outer garter rib column inwards, resulting in a distinct diagonal from armhole towards body, and then a crisp edge detail running upwards along shoulder.
The Upper West Sweater is worked in the round from hem to armholes and then separated into front and back, which are worked flat to shoulder. Once shoulders are seamed, stitches are picked up around armholes and sleeves are worked in the round to cuff. Collar stitches are picked up around neckline and worked in the round, then folded over and seamed down. Cables are both written and charted.
