Very slowly, some stems and a bud have formed over the weekend :)

The ingenuity of this design (and perhaps most of VE's designs) is that it there are different items to do according to mood.  It allows the stitcher to pick an easy, moderate of elaborate item.  One such simple item is the leaf on the left.  Because I am new to linen and VE's designs, I needed the security of the border, so I started with the 1/2 stitches of stem, building upwards toward the leaf.  It was a pleasure to see the leaf forming.  And to my utmost surprise, the leaf formed very quickly ! And then I plodded towards the other bigger leaf . . . got quite bored with greens . .  and promptly got seduced by the red bits in the bud !

Apologies for the super-bad lighting, will find out how to do better next !

Cheers,
p

Oh, Porcini, it's already so beautiful and it's not even 50% stitched! Imagine the final piece!
You're stitching yourself a piece of art! Way to go, sister!

Hi Yovi,
Do give linen a try.  After the initial difficulty, you would love it, as I do now !  If you are on aida 16 or 18 now, perhaps you might want to try evenweave 25 before linen.

Evenweave has threads that are more even than linen.

I stitch free hand, so no frame for me !

Hope this helps :)

Cheers,
p

I've bought aida 25ct. is it the same like linen? i want to make "HAED Christmas Tree Bear". But it needs a long time to stitch coz the pattern has 50 pages:D:loveliness:

Aida is different from linen & evenweave because aida threads are already grouped in blocks. The blocks are neat little squares making counting and seeing the holes easier. With linen & evenweave, w  Details Reply Post time 2012-10-16 15:53

Thanks verank. I stitch slowly, so it might take a while to finish. I will post weekly WIPs though Cheers, p  Details Reply Post time 2012-10-16 15:55

Thanks dagada. Because I stitch so slowly, I start imagining how it will look like when finished, but find that it's more real to just stare at the charts Cheers, p  Details Reply Post time 2012-10-16 15:58
