CA P2 W5.JPG

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with lots of time to relax and stitch! Sad to say it is already over with and now we are ready to start a brand new week...so let's make it a GREAT ONE! :D

Here in North America we have a very special holiday to celebrate this week known as Thanksgiving! I understand many of you will be very busy preparing and making errands for the holiday feast. Please do not feel that you need to get any of the project done this week. Focus on what you need to do and enjoy your time! All I ask is that you remember what Thanksgiving is truly about. Show your thankfulness and gratitude and enjoy the time with your loved ones.

A reminder is always nice to have; please share with us something that you are thankful for  :loveliness:

For those of you who will be celebrating, I want to wish you a very safe and a very Happy Thanksgiving!

CROCHET ALONG - STITCH SCHEDULE
**I do have a favor to ask, if any of you have already worked an African Flower Motif and you could share with us some advice or alternative tips outside from the pattern, please share with us below. I grately appreciate it in advance!

10/28/2013 - PROJECT 2 - WEEK 1
Please take this time to download and review the pattern in its entirety! READ IT THOROUGHLY! You are going to want to design and plan out your colors for each piece. Take note of any materials you may need to acquire and take this time to do so. I have posted some pictures above to help boost your creative minds :)

This is a very extensive pattern that includes some new techniques you may or may not be familiar with. All the details are included within the pattern download and I HIGHLY recommend you follow it completely. Practice these new techniques and learn the different motifs! For a successful finished project you will need to know exactly what to do and how to assemble the pieces. If you come across any concerns or questions simpily reply to this thread and we will work on it together!

11/04/2013 - PROJECT 2 - WEEK 2
Weekly check-in thread -
continue practicing your motifs and techniques from the Week 1. Gather your materials and plan out your project. Decide which joining method you prefer and how you want to proceed. It seems like many of us are using the join-as-you-go method, this is not mandatory, you can choose to make all of the pieces first and join them at the end.  Your preference! Please take note that I will be following the pattern for the stitch schedule and the pattern is based on the join-as-you-go method. Again this is all up to you and what you are most comfortable with.

SIDE NOTE: The designer has chosen to start the motifs with Ch 5 and slip stitch to form a ring. If you prefer, as I do, you can substitute the Ch 5 for a magic circle. If you do not know how to work the magic circle, YouTube has some wonderful tutorials! I find that it makes it easier when using the magic circle and it gives you the ability to adjust the tightness of the inner circle simply by pulling on a piece of yarn! Look it up and judge for yourself! **Please note, this only stands as a reference, you do not need to use the magic circle

Here is my happy hippo butt ;P

I am loving these motifs! They are so easy and fun to make! Took me a minute to figure out how to join the legs and I think I messed up one side but i'm hoping it's an easy fix.

Can't wait to get more done! :D

I have the bum octagon joined, and have made more pentagons. I'm going to make more pentagons and then choose which ones to join, they're all different colors.

I don´t see a picture :D Be sure that you don´t make to much pentagons but also hexagons :D I almost made too many ;) I´m sure your colours will turn out beautiful  Post time 2013-11-29 03:12

I couldn't decide on color, I actually like the ones like yours best. My husband wants the really bright colors and I like the pastels better, and I'm no good at picking colors. This poor hippo will be really confused, his colors are going to be all messed up. If I had just picked one color, he would probably be done already (and look a lot better). I figure the baby won't care what it looks like.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your computer that's terrible! So did you get a new one then? And yes you can join! Welcome aboard! I'd suggest reading through each of the threads so you are up to date and have all the information. The links to all the past posts are listed in the post on the first page.

Take your time though, there is no need to rush! I have the stitch schedule stretched out over a long while. I figured with the holidays everyone would be working on many other things and didn't want to overwhelm everyone. And feel free to post your progress pictures with us in our Monday check-in threads! We all love seeing everyone's work!

Read through everything, take your time and have fun! If you have any questions on the pattern or anything else don't hesitate to ask! It's great to have you with us :D

You did so well in picking and mixing the colours!  Post time 2013-12-2 22:54
It is really hard picking colors. I did lots of samples to see what colors looked OK. And joined them all so I could figure it out.  Post time 2013-11-29 21:57
I just bought all the colors they had. Purple is my son & daughter-in-law's favorite color. Haven't tried the orange and bright green yet, but I'm sure the baby will love it no matter what the colors.   Post time 2013-11-29 21:55
