[Accessories Show] Dyeing cross stitch fabric

These are my first attempts at dyeing my own fabric. With the grey piece I have a large full coverage chart that I am going to start that is very dark, mostly black and navy blue. I was afraid the white fabric would show thru too much and I didn't want my fabric black as I thought it would be harder to stitch on. I am very happy with the soft grey I ended up with.

For the ice dyed fabric I just wanted to play around and see what happened. I used 2 powdered dyes, yellow and tan. I never thought I would see all the different colors that I got. It looks a little different on each side. I will do this again with different colors. One thing I learned is to sew the edges first. It frayed a bit when I washed it but not enough to be a problem.

Wow, I love to cross stitch and have done so for years but I have never been brave enough to try dying the fabric!  You have really given me new ideas!  Thank you!

Comments

Let me know how it goes, it's really not hard. I saw a video where someone dyed fabric with coffee, tea, wine and blueberries (separately not at once). I haven't tried any of that yet.  Post time 2017-1-1 06:53

I like it, looks good. What colors will you be using?

Comments

Thank you :) I already have blue, violet and green. I am going to pick up orange and black and whatever color catches my eye.  Post time 2016-12-31 01:39
