When making a project for a little person, do choose your colors based on traditional gender colors or do you do the opposite? What is your method for choosing colors for a child if not given specifics?

If I don't know the gender light yellow or green can be for a boy or a girl.

my son got a giraffe amigurumi which body is white and the spot is pink, red, orange, blue, green, purple, grey
if I crochet for someone's child, usually I pick the parents' favorite colour

Colour does not have gender. My oldest son loves pink. My youngest son loves purple. If I do not know the preferred colours, I will use a mix of colours or go with yellows, greens, and beiges because they match most decor.

If boy-girl colours could be an issue - or an expecting mum having verrrrrry specific taste about her interior - I do something neutral like white and jazz it up with a coloured ribbon or other details that can come off easily. So the gift can be simply adapted to someones own taste afterwards without throwing it away.
