Under a pattern picture where is says downloads there is a number is that how many times its been downloaded by people?

Yes, but it is glitched. It also counts refresh attempts (when there are network issues or issues with the site), moderatorial downloads (theres at least one download by a moderator for each thread), sometimes counts downloads attempts through proxies or downloads via download managers as multiple downloads, etc. Its also impossible to tell just by that number how many downloads are coming by individual users, how many from redownloads. The only way to tell the real number is by going to your Points Log and manually count it. The number you see is just a general idea that could be (and most of the time is) way-way off. A, say, 435 count you see under the attachments name could be just 41 actual downloads due to a system download issue and a very persistent user hitting refresh for half an hour.
