Hi all!
How the times have changed here.   Schools are cancelled; Husband is working from home as his office is shuttered for the duration.
No news on when the schools will re-open and online studies for the school year will begin next week.
All theatres, concert halls, casinos, daycare centres and recreation facilities/gyms are closed.

How are you all doing?   I, myself, am fearful of running out of much needed supplies here at home and I don't want to head out to bring supplies in.

Will be here for much needed support for you all.
I'm just glad I collected lots and lots of crafty bits over time so there is no way I will run out.

Big hugs to all!

LouAnna

The world has turned upside down.  H1N1 back in 2009 was, so the experts say, worse than Covid19 and everything stayed open.  I think the media hyped things and made people crazy.  People who may have thought they had a cold are now panicking that they have this virus.  If we didn't know there was a NEW virus folks would have thought they had the "flu" which is still outpacing this virus in terms of deaths.  We are not on total lock down but I expect the governor to follow suit with NY and say 100% of people, with the exception of essential personnel, are to stay home.  Schools, stores, and restaurants are closed with the exception of take out and the gas stations are open also.  There's not a roll of toilet paper to be had anywhere.  It's gone as soon as the store stocks the shelves.  My friend who is 65 went to shop at the early hour for seniors and was actually carded at the door, I thought I'd fall on the floor laughing when she told me she had to pull out her license to prove her age before they'd let her enter.  She should take that as a REAL compliment!  We should all follow the recommendations given to us not only for ourselves but for the health of others as well.  Stay safe, be well!

Hope you and yours are doing well. Total lock down here, following the guidelines and taking no chances. Weather has been nice so doing some early spring cleaning. Hope things get better soon for all!  Post time 2020-3-22 06:48
I remember H1N1, my boys both came down with a flu at that time. Husband and I didn't get it. School buses were near empty for days as it went through the schools.  Post time 2020-3-22 00:33
Looking at the death toll in Italy posted today from yesterday; I think I will stay inside away from other people. An abundance of caution is in order. Remember to keep your distance from others.  Post time 2020-3-22 00:31

Please people quit blaming the "media".  If you stop and think back in 2009 people were not getting their "information" from places like Face Book.  We now are spreading all kinds of rumors based on what people are posting on their social media sites.  I live in a small rural community in the middle of no where.  However, we do have the largest medical facility for hundreds of miles.  One of my co-workers has become convinced that our regional hospital only has two ventilators and is busy posting that on Face Book.  It's not true! Please folks use some common sense and avoid the hype.

I'm with you @CraftyLouAnna  we are home though we have health issues that keep us from working prior to this. All social gatherings are cancelled, no schools for now, restaurants are closed for all but take out, and all the rest as you said are closed. I am now getting messages from stores that they are closing their physical stores and just staying open through their websites. If is a little scary. My mother in law is in a nursing home which means we can not visit her since last week. That is the hardest. I know it is the right thing to do but is sad for us and isolating for her.

I like you have more than enough craft supplies to keep me creative until things get better. Maybe even learn something new?

Hope we can all help each other keep our spirits up and our anxiety down :)

Virtual hugs to all!

Yes, grocery stores and pharmacies are open. I heard about the opening early for the elderly but don't know much more.  Post time 2020-3-18 23:49
Stores are opening early for the elderly and those that have immunity/health issues to keep them safe. They are well cleaned through overnight so those that need prescriptions filled and groceries.  Post time 2020-3-18 23:30

I'm in Australia and while we aren't in lockdown yet (we only yesterday closed cinemas, restaurant dine-in, gyms etc), I'm sure it will be coming in the weeks ahead. People don't really seem to be following the stay at home guidelines. Schools are still open, the shops are still full of people, especially the grocery stores. I have been home for about a week now, I am pregnant and am trying to only leave the house for doctor appointments. The grocery stores are out of a lot of items such as toilet paper, wipes, pasta, flour, rice, milk etc and people have been bulk buying meat and even buying additional freezers so they can panic buy meat, milk, frozen foods etc! It's pretty scary at the moment, I just wish more people were listening to the advice to stay at home and practice social distancing.

@CraftyLouAnna Here in The Netherlands is not yet a lockdown.
The homecare is comming twice a week now.
We have hygene soap to wash our hands and dry it with kitchen paper, then we have at last sterile hand fluid a few drops is enough and you are sterile.
We stay at home, once a week the shopping.
People here are hamsters, there is enough food so need to hamster.
Our Prime Minister said to stop this, because it has no use.
For the eldere people they can come to shop for a hour, if not people are selfish and let notting left for the eldery. I wish for all stay safe, hoping that there is very soon a vacin against this terrible virus.
Big hugs for you all. :)

Popped out to our local grocer. Shelves are pretty empty. Flour and sugar.... very little left. No TP still. Limits on purchases 1 per household. Mind you the 3m rule is being broken. Scary!  Post time 2020-3-20 04:09

When the info they are closing schools came people here got a little crazy, descending on any big shops and buying out all the pasta/rice and, of course, toilet paper. Now, week later, is far less hectic. I went grocery shopping today, was able to buy everything I needed (even a substantial amount of TP!). I think the best way to deal with all of this is to stay calm, even after few days people calmed down and shops restocked. The crucial thing is to not to go outside if it's not absolutely necessary.
And hey, maybe it's a great opportunity to finish up all the crafting projects we started : D

All the best for you and your family! : )

I looked for TP Saturday........all sold out. But I can wait.....it's not a dire situation..... yet! :o) Stay safe.  Post time 2020-3-19 05:43
Well said Mephala87, we had the same here. Stores are still running out of things quick as things get worse. I know people are frightened and I hope good information will help. Glad you got TP, LOL!  Post time 2020-3-19 02:52

So, a final thought here.  It's possible that there could be some good things that come out of all of this.  It's possible that maybe people will learn how to cook instead of depending on fast food.  We might learn to read a book instead of hanging out a the local bar.  We might even learn to talk to the people we care about instead of just depending on posts on face book to check in with people we care about.  Maybe we can learn to put our political differences aside and start listening to each other instead of yelling at one another.

I love a person with common sense! Thank you!  Post time 2020-3-23 05:57
Too many people have turned this into a political battle. It is not. Be proactive! Help one another. Don't let demographics or political affiliation cause people to die.  Post time 2020-3-22 23:40
Your co-worker should not be posting anything about the lack of supplies in your local hospital. It will just lead to panicked patients. I'm sure the hospital itself knows it's stock.  Post time 2020-3-22 23:38
I agree, most sites like Facebook DO spread a lot of misinformation. I get my info from WHO, and our government sites. Never FOX news or OAN or Brietbart because they spread untruths.  Post time 2020-3-22 13:26

I'm in Indonesia and some cities are doing the lockdown right now, while in my city we're slowly going to lockdown. School is closed, church is closed, shopping centre only open for 4 hours. So many people start to hoard groceries, especially rice, frozen food and canned food. Hand sanitizers and face mask are so rare and even if it's available people sell it super expensive. I'm not really panic but I do aware and stock on some food, but not that much like you're preparing to stay at home for more than a month, just enough for 2 weeks if they decide to lockdown the city.
Stay safe and take care!

We were supposed to go visit my 2 month old granddaughter this week.  We cancelled because we didn't want to risk catching something and making her sick.  I really miss her.  I'm an introvert so staying home doesn't bother me that much.  I have enough crafting supplies to keep me busy for a long time.  I have asthma so I'm very anxious about what could happen if I get the virus.  Everytime I get a cold I end up with bronchitis

Comments

I too am introvert. Hubby jokes I could live in solitude w/tv yarn hooks & needles. I agree. But this is a bit much. Have not seen my daughter & son in law for weeks but safety first. Stay safe.   Post time 2020-3-23 00:00
Back to the magnesium. Please look it up. It could possibly be a huge help to you.  Post time 2020-3-22 08:12
Try taking magnesium. I have allergies and frequently had an issue with feeling like I couldn't breath. I finally found a specialist who said it was a muscle reaction and suggested the magnesium.  Post time 2020-3-22 08:11
I have a chunky chest cold right now, so I don't venture out myself very often. Better safe than sorry. When I get sick; it quickly turns to pneumonia. So I'm trying to stay home.  Post time 2020-3-20 22:49

It's crazy here also. We are on lockdown but we have no choice, our kids called us and yelled at us, lol.  We needed food! Been in the house for 4 weeks now.  I was ill with a cold, head cold and sinus and in the house 3 weeks and then they call for lockdown!

Difficult but allowed to work from home for the first time in 45 years. Company gave everyone capacity, except some people in the mailroom and some in the IT department.  Strange times.  I have not left the house for days and will likely not leave for another week at least.  Be safe.

I too am glad I have lots of crafty bits stashed away and thank goodness for Pindiy so we can get ideas on what to do with them. It is such an eerie situation, but I'm making the best of it and stitching my little heart out. And we all know how therapeutic that is! I hope all of you all are well!
