Mirabilia "Mermaids of the Deep Blue"; Altered Color Scheme...

Edited by asiaanne at 2012-10-30 15:35

And now, my SECOND upload to share (this is so fun...).

After a hiatus from sewing for almost 10 years, this was my first selection back into the wonderful world of cross-stitch.I have always been a Mirabilia/ Nora Corbett admirer (most especially the mermaids and fairies), so this seemed the logical design with which to re-start my creative cross-stitching!

Please enjoy, and I am sharing the materials required in the event anyone else wishes to make this "altered" design!!!If you have the original chart, you can then make the required substitions...

Mermaids, rich in their beauty swim in deep, dark seas highlighting their blue, turquoise and gold. The altered, darker color scheme changed the tones of this design into one of timeless elegance and classic serene intrique of the mysterious deep. And, while the original is equally stunning; My particular asthetic for the changes I made were chosen based on my home colors/ decor of more "earthy/ almost bohemian" design.

FABRIC:32 count natural brown undyed linen; size 18 X 27 inches
ORIGINAL COPYRIGHT: Mirabilia Designs "Mermaids of the Deep Blue"; Wichelt Imports

All DMC charted colors remain the same as the original pattern dictates.

Krenik 014 sky blue stays the same
Krenik 015 chartreuse stays the same
Krenik 024 fuschia use instead 029 turquiose
Krenik 152V vintage sienna use instead 029 emerald

Mill Hill 02022 silver use instead 02011 victorian gold
Mill Hill 03049 rich red use instead 03035 royal green
Mill Hill 03050 champagne ice use instead (dress) 02031 citron
Mill Hill 03050 champage ice use instead (flourishes) 00374 rainbow

Other changes made were personalized decisions (added more Krenik to the hair of both; altered flourish design to include the various bead alterations) and I recommend just using your own imagination to make the design your own!

Completion Time= about 3 months
Project Complexity= moderate to high
