I would recommend the same direction as the top stitch, especially if you use rice or oblong beads. Hope it helped!

I have never done bead stitching, but will soon do some bead stitching for my current wip. And I think, it will look better if it is done in the same direction with the top stitch. :)

im just thinking of using it for the borders so im not sure how to do it... so no matter the type of beads its better to do it the same as the top stitch?

well, it depends if you atached as your decision to embellisment so better make the same direction of the uper stitch, but if you follow a designer with beads in the kitusually you should follow the instructions   cause might have different directions that fit the sense of design :)

I have been stitching for over 20 years and always use the top stitch to place beads, I never put in the bottom stitch as it makes it rather bulky, I have stitched many of the MB charts and they always have heaps of beads
hope this helps with your question

I would go for the top stitch as well, beccause for some small beads, 2 stitches do not even fit into the hole of the beads

Do you tie each bead off at the back, or do you use the same thread and drag it behind the fabric - I cant find a better way to describe it. I have been tying each one with its own knot, but not sure if this is the best way to do it.
