I use a Q-snap and barely touch the fabric, and it still gets dirty.

No because I sweat a lot with my hands and I don't wanna wash it when I finished specially if I use over dye threads so for me its a big no, but if you wanna try...do whats make you happy

There's always going to be dirt. Unless you're using special floss, wash the project. It will also help the stitches to fluff up and look fuller.

I typically choose projects so that the full design fits into a 14-inch hoop as I also am concerned about getting my project dirty. For a bigger project doing the stitching free hand I find at the end you need to block it to make the stitching straight and this is more difficult that just moving the hoop around the stitching.

Even if there's no visible grime, there's dirt that may discolor over time. Better to wash.

I tend not to use any hoop on a small project but on the larger ones I like to use it to keep my work neat

No me gusta mucho el aro, siempre bordo a mano y siempre lavo mi labor.
