Question about repaint patterns

So I found a pattern that is an actual pattern that can be purchased as a leaflet. But instead of finding it in the cross stitch scanned section, its in the repaint section. So my question is this: is the repaint version not as good as if the original leaflet was scanned? If its repaint, does that mean someone just scanned the completed project picture and a cross stitch pattern maker program created a pattern from the scanned picture? I want the pattern, but I dont know if its going to be as good as if it was the original chart that was scanned. Thanks for your help!

Most of the repaint patterns are in xsd, that means you need a special programm to turn it on to a pdf file.
Indeed they use a special programm for it, some members love to stitch from their laptop or otherwise.

Rachael,
repaint patterns are made by dedicated "repainters" who carefully transfer a scanned pattern into a digital pattern. The pattern is transferred stitch by stitch, by hand.

As with anything, there is room for errors, but a repaint will in the vast majority of cases be a perfect copy of the original.

A repaint pattern will be clearer than any scan, and will print perfectly every time. In addition, if you get the full version of a repaint program (available in the Stitch Tips and Tricks section), you can change symbols to match your preference, and also chose which size to print the pattern, if you chose to print it on actual paper.

Strawberry Cat just gave the best answer! :loveliness: I love repaints as I like changing the symbols if they have difficult to quickly read ones next to others, also can print in color! I also like that I can then change anything that I want like colors or add/remove stitches. Just my opinion but it is nice to have something you can always read clearly. Happy stitching :loveliness:

Thank you all for helping me understand repaints better! I think I will try one out and see how I like it! I have heard of a lot of people doing it that way...using their tablets etc to cross stitch from. I do it the old fashioned way I guess with a paper chart lol. But I do like the idea of being able to change colors and symbols and even removing stitches all together!
