Crochet help

Could someone please help me to understand how to create this foundation chain, its from a pattern by mala designs. Ive purchased several of her designs and they all have this foundation chain that I cant understand, I always end up have 1sc less than I should have so I usually just sneak one in at the end.
Im assuming that you start at the second chain from the hook continue the instructions and that would give you 21sc not a total of 22, could someone please explain to me where Im going wrong!

Hi there,
you crochet in total 11 ch
(Tch.. means turn chain.)
The second from te hook you doa single crochet and also the next 8 (so 9 sc in total)
The last one, number 10 you do 3 single crochet in one chain.
So that makes 11 in total on this side
Than you go to the other side of that chain and makes 8 times a single crochet (1in each chain.)
The last one you do 2 sc in one ch
That makes on that side also 11 sc so the total is then 22 sc..

I hope it is more clear now?

What is "tch"?

Edit:

I found it https://newstitchaday.com/tch-turn-chain-crochet/
Had never heard of that!

So I am counting the chains in the drawing and she says to sc into 8 chains, but the drawing shows one more, 9.
I downloaded a random penguins patternand found the same "error" Im trying to attach a pic.

She tells to do 4 sc, but paints 5.

Sorry, I dont understand her instructions :(

Possibly one SC is referred to as a turning chain, my assumption was that the chain on the hook was the turning chain, but I guess its not. So when it says "10ch, 1tch" in simple terms I suppose that means 11ch

Edit:

Yes its really confusing the way she writes it
But
2. 1sc in the second last chain (second chain from the hook) then 4sc, and 3sc in the last ch, making a total of 7 Ch needed (6ch, 1tch) I think she counts one of the sc as tch

Ann so confusing

Which pattern is it? Something is not adding up if you compare the diagram to the written instructions, Id like to take a look at it!
