How long strands do you use
I use a strand about 30cm long never longer because to much chance for knots. How long is your strand? I use the elbow method - I take a thread up to the length of my elbow in order to maximize how much my hand can extend. I don't know the length.I grab the tail, pull it out 4 times (4 "sets" of thread from the skein), and clip one thread at a time (I use loop start).I then wrap the remaining (still attached to the skein) around the label to ensure it doesn't fall off. About 90cm (length from shoulder to fingers x 2) because I do a loop start. With 45cm (half) I can pull the thread nice through the aida in one time :)
I think every one has their own method - just the way you like!! I use the same method as Lolgimante. It is the simpliest to keep your thread from getting tangled while working 36 inches, folded in half for a loop start, I like a long piece of thread About an arm's length and then folded in half for a loop start. Following this thread 50CM as usual About 30cm. Less knotting, like you said. I use a strand about 50cm. The same, less knotting that way The same.. Less knotting and hence less frustration... I always use a strand about 35 cm. about 14 inches if cotton and 10-12 inches if metallics about 50cm。 50 cm for me
