k – knit. p – purl. K2tog – knit two together. M 1 – make one stitch by picking up the horizontal loop before the next stitch andknitting it into the back of it. Knit as you go - knit the knits and purl the purls (work the stitches as they appear). Yo - the yarn is passed over the right-hand knittingneedle. See photo 2. Edge st – edge stitch (slip 1 stitch at the beginning of therow and purl 1 at the end of the row). 4-st left cable – slide 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in back of work, knit 2, knit 2 from cable needle. 4-st right cable – slide 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in front of work, knit 2, knit 2 from cable needle. (5) – the number in the brackets indicates the number of stitches in this round. (K.P.K.P.K.P) K- knit, P - purl. I highlighted these six loops to show thatthis is the Seed pattern in the center.
