How to turn a scan pattern into a repaint?

My apologies if I am doing this wrong. I am new here and have not yet gotten the hang of the forum. -.-

I am hoping someone here can explain it for me, or break it down for me how to turn a scanned pattern into a repaint. I currently have PCStitch 10 (have tried to get Pattern Maker, but so far cant get a working copy.)  and am working in that for now. I have the scans of the pattern I need to convert. I have even figured how to import *sections* of the pattern into PCStitch as an underlay so I can - technically speaking - paint over it. However, no matter what I have tried, the grid in the pattern does NOT line up with the grid in the program. So repainting is. . .funky at best. Ive even taken the scan into Photoshop and tried to make sure its straight there. But no go. It invariably starts off all right, then falls more and more out of alignment as I go.

Is there any way to make this better? Or do I simply need to take bad-scans and copy them visually into the prgram? (Not really wanting to do that! Repainting I can do. Its sort of fun/relaxing. Like a colouring book. Copying? Will take more counting. rotflol)

Thanks for any help!

anniekins, thank you for the links. I have scoured both threads you linked to, but while they are somewhat informative, both seem to lack the actual details on how to prepare the scans and accomplish the process. Unless Im missing something?

To convert a pdf or paper chart into a repaint chart, you have to go through and manually input symbol by symbol into the program. I dont think theres any easy way to convert them like scanning it into a program.
Repaints are great to use but difficult to make.

Oh. I see. Perhaps that was my problem. I was thinking there was an easy - if tedious - way to do it. ;P Especially when people describe it as akin to colouring. (Which is sort of is...when the grid lines up!) I guess that would explain the lack of instructions.

Thank you so much for letting me know! Guess I will figure out how to attack this pattern. It really does need some digital help!

Thanks! :)
