Has anyone ever left a needle in a project then when they have come back to it, its rusty? I accidently did this recently and now am not sure if there is anyway to get the rust stain out of the fabric? Has anyone had this?
(I have since been through all my other WIP projects and taken needles out - lesson learnt!!)

Happened to me too.  My needle was parked on the side, and now 2 rust marks are there.  From then on, all needles are wrapped in foil after each stitching session.

Yes and I use the same thing for clothing rust stains. it is a powder and called "rust out" works extremely well.  Post time 2013-2-1 04:54

Ive read somewhere that lemon juice can remove rust stain. Simply cut the lemon and rub it (and squeeze the juice as well) onto the stain. Then lay your aida under direct sunlight (without rinsing it).
But Im not sure how long you must leave it until the rust disappears (or at least lighten). Hope this will help :)

Ive also heard that lemon juice would remove rust stains.   Although Ive never had the need to try it.    Let us know how you get on with it.  :D

how long did u leave your work before it rusted
I did a cruise and every day I would place the needle in the work and being on the sea you would think I would have had trouble but mine was fine.
I may have to rethink where I leave it next time though
thanks for the heads up

I like your profile pic wally!! Sad that its fallen down. I think some needles are better than others but yes it is something to watch out for as I said I have now removed needles from all my WIPS!  Post time 2013-1-26 10:32

There are several products which you can buy which will remove the rust stain. Rust Away is one that I know of. Lime Away will also work. Be very careful with these products however! Dab a little  Details Reply Post time 2013-1-30 04:31
