I don't have anything now (give most things away as gifts), but I did something similar, only I used regular cable needles and used the double knitting stitch. Basically, it makes a tube that you close when you bind off. Each side makes an opposite mirror image of your pattern.

There are several methods, which you can Google for. I searched for double knitting stitch

My big projects most certainly do not compare to this. I'm only working on an Heaven and Earth cross stitch pattern. Yours is gorgeous!
