I love to stitch samplers but the problem arises on how to display them properly!!
Framing is a good idea but can be very expensive especially if the sampler is large and needs a custom-made frame.
So I decided to finish some samplers with a simple hemstitch or drawn threads. These techniques give a neat and strong hem and enhance the simplicity of the sampler.
The batons used are wood and metal. You just attach loops of ribbon on the back of the work to take the baton or use loops made with buttonhole stitching.
The sampler below is Sarah Glover. It was stitched on a light gray linen and I finished it with a simple hem stitch.

This sampler is Ann How from a kit from Scarlet Letter. I used a drawn thread technique with hemstitching and then threaded a 4 mm organza ribbon through the edging.
