Though Ive seen the little mice, owls, and birds, I really didnt think it would be something Id do, but here I am having finished 2 gingerbread mice. They are meant to be ornaments and they are this years ornaments to myself.

I chose 32-count opalescent raw Belfast linen instead of the almond or raw linen suggested, adding a bit of glisten to the fabric. The Kreinik #4 very fine braid (002L) added even more glimmer and it goes well with the material. Putting the mice together was new for me but went quickly. It took 3 days to make these 2 charming little mice (1 day each of stitching and a couple of hours to sew, stuff, and finish). They will hang on my Xmas tree in 2014.

Gingerbread and Jingle Mice

Just to show how small these are, Ive set them next to a packet of cross stitch needles.

Addictive little buggers arent they, LOL.  Ive made at least a dozen of them.  Ive also made the bunny, bee, owl and the cardinal.  Cant wait to see what they come up with in 2014.

Your mice look great!!!!!

Thank you. I was a little worried about doing it right, but they turned out okay. I didnt know there was a bunny, but I have seen the bee. Took about 8 hours today and I like the way they turned out.  Post time 2014-1-1 15:11

oh I just adore them :loveliness: they look like they are singing a happy little duet! :D great choice for the material, think I will do the same (I smell an ebay shopping spree lol)

all kidding aside they are wonderful. did you find them very hard to stitch together as that is my only real fear of making one. :) congratulations and happy stitching and new year too :)

Thank you. I was a little nervous about stitching them together, but Im an old hand at sewing. I decided to do them by hand. They went together easily once I figured them out. Give it a shot.  Post time 2014-1-1 15:13

The ears are a little tricky to attach but I am sure you can figure it out.

They are made of felt and the tail is a small pompom.  Post time 2014-1-2 04:53
Thank you for the bunny link. Theyre short pieces to stitch for sure. I like them as quick stitches to give me a break from longer projects. Are the ears felt or made from the evenweave?  Post time 2014-1-1 22:08

Thank you. Sure you could. Its no different from any other cross stitch piece and you get to finish sooner. Give it a try. Youll be surprised how easy it is.  Post time 2014-1-1 22:05
