I've been working on a birth certificate pattern. There are white spaces that I'm tempted to fill in with white stitches. Is it worth the time/effort to do this?

You can use glitter fabric. It looks better, and you don't need to waste your time stitching the blank. :)

Hmm that's a good idea. I'll have to remember that for next time. Too late for this one, already 50% done.  Details Reply Post time 2014-3-6 12:42

Are the white spaces meant to be filled in? Are they inside of an outline such as a teddy bear, rattle, etc.? Or are you just speaking of the white areas where there is no pattern? If it's just those white areas, I would say no, don't do it. Only stitch what is meant to be stitched or it will not look the same as the finished product in the picture. :)

This is why I prefer to stitch on linen or evenweave instaed of aida. I don't like the look of plain aida fabric  so I only use that on patterns where everything will be covered. But linen and evenweave look nice left empty so I use them for patterns that have blank spaces in them - they way the fabric becomes part of the design.
