Hey all,

Im looking for a bit of help.  The next project Im wanting to start is a beautiful sampler of the letter D, for my daughter.  (Specifically "Lettre D Gigi" found here on the forum.)

Im trying to find out what size fabric to use, and how much of it I will need to make it.  Im hoping to use 28ct Evenweave or Linen, but Im not sure which of the below is what Im needing.

Here is what is written:

Lettre D
DMC
Rouge-baiser ou Hand-dyed Fibers Vikki Clayton : Dragon Blood 498
Points arrière
Rouge-baiser ou Hand-dyed Fibers Vikki Clayton : Dragon Blood 498
Trame 450 x 342

Im sure Im adding more than is necessary above, but I just want to dot my Is and cross my Ts.  :)  Any help translating and figuring this out would be greatly apprecaited!

Here it is what you need I think ...

11 points/pouces équivallent à 4.4 points au centimètre.

28 counts = 11points/pouces équivallent à 5.5 points au centimètre so if I dont make a mistake you will have that :

Zone de dessin 81.8 x 62.2 cm de 55 pts/10cm

have a nice day !! :)

18 points/pouces équivallent à 7.2 points au centimètre

Toile de lin ou étamine

28 points/pouces équivallent à 11points/centimètre

32 points/pouces équivallent à 12 points/ centimètre

15 points/pouce équivallent à 14 points/ centimère.

Zone de dessin 81.8 x 62.2 cm de 55 pts/10cm
75.0 x 57.0 cm de 60 pts/10cm
64.3 x 48.9 cm de 70 pts/10cm

Zone de dessin means area of stitching.

81.8 x 62.2 cm de 55 pts/10cm = 32,3 x 24,5 inch on a 14ct/inch

I hope this helps.

Honestly, the simplest way to do it will be to look at the pattern and count how many stitches each way. You can stitch it on any thread count that you want, youll just have to use a fabric calculator to get the right size fabric.

If I had to guess,  I would say the stitch count is given in this line: Trame 450 x 342
Check the pattern to make sure thats right.

Then if you want to stitch on 28 count, divide the stitch count by 28, so 450/28 x 342/28 comes to 16.1 x 12.2 inches.  Add some extra fabric on each side for border/framing/etc, and that is the size fabric youll need.

If you want the finished piece to be bigger, you can stitch on a larger count fabric like 25 or 22 count. If you want it to be smaller, you can try stitching on 32 or 36 count, though youll need really good eyesight for that. Just always remember to add atleast 6 inches total on each side to make sure you have enough to frame or finish it.
