[Skill Help] Can a pattern be made smaller?

I have one completed Christmas stocking that measures approximately 12 x 16 inches, 164w x 256h stitches on a 14 count canvas.
The next stocking I want to make is 13 x 20 inches, 186w x 286h on 14 count canvas.
I want the stockings to be the same size.
Is it possible to use maybe a 16 count canvas and come out with the same size stocking?
Anyone have any experience with something like this?
Thank you!!

i am not sure where you are coming from but if you change the size of the aida fabric, the size of your design will also change. you can take the width, divide it by 16 and this gives you your size. so your new dimensions will be 11.625 x 17.875 and this is not including the border. i usually add 3 inches for framing on each side so if I made the stocking, it would come out 17.625 x 23.875. so whatever the size of the fabric whether it be 16 count aida or 28 count jobelan, all you need to do is take the length, divide by the stitch count of the fabric and of course include your borders if you are wanting any. and you would do the same for the width as well. i hope this is the information you were looking for :)

oh and you might be able to change the size of your design by using a patten creating program like PCStitch or Patternmaker. You would need a clean jpg of the original design to pull that off or you could use one of those free pattern generating sites and to state specifically the size you need. :)

Here is the comparison:
For 164w x 256h in 14 count you got 11.71 x 18.28 inches.
For 186w x 286h in 16 count you will get 11.62 x 17.87 inches. Maybe you can add a row of border of to make the difference. :)

The conversion is pretty much what I thought but it's good to have confirmation from other stitchers.
Thank you for your help.
