A vintage booklet from 1971.
The name "rib ticklers" back then was used for very snug fitting vests.
They were intentionally made one size smaller for a tighter fit.
My advice: choose a larger crochet hook than the instructions suggest.
These vests are fun to make!
TO MAKE THESE VESTS CONTEMPORARY LOOKING:
1) Use contemporary colors, more muted (not all plain bright like in the original);
2) Make shoulder straps narrow (not wide like in the booklet);
3) Make it at least one size larger than the patterns suggests;
4) Make it a little longer (optional).
Charley, did you have a rib tickler? I wish I lived in the 70s now to wear one of these beauties!!!! ..so in love with that fashion!!!!
