This is some of the progress on my advent calendar.

Ive finished the background stitched on navy blue cashel linen by Zweigart.  The  motifs come from Rico design books and Ive changed some of the colours to work better on a dark background.  The background is positioned over a magnetic board.

The wooden gold stars are stuck onto small magnets.  The aim is to use these magnets to fix the eventual pockets that contain sweeties onto the background.

I just have four more pocket motifs to do and then the numbers for each pocket.  Then sew the pockets up ready for filling and fixing to the board.  Ive used motifs from various sources as long as they fit the 50 x 50 stitches for each pocket.

Just thought you may find this idea using magnets useful.  The pockets can be moved around and reversed when necessary.  The fixture isnt permanent so that once Christmas is over I just take out the background, roll it up and store it for next year.  The magnetic board can be used for other things.
