[Tips Discussion] 35 ct to 40ct Linen

Can anyone recommend an online shop to purchase 35 ct, 36ct and 40 ct linen?
The only ones I can find are so expensive and I dont have a huge budget as much as I would love to.  It doesnt need to be branded linen like Zweigart etc, just in the counts that I usually use.

Many thanks for your help

Totally get the struggle—finding affordable 35, 36, or 40 count linen without breaking the bank can feel like searching for a unicorn! While high-end brands like Zweigart are great quality, they can be pricey. If you’re open to non-branded linen, try checking out local fabric stores or smaller online shops that carry linen by the yard; sometimes they offer decent-quality linen at better prices. Another tip is to look for linen labeled as "floba" or "evenweave" in those counts, which can be a bit more budget-friendly but still work nicely for your stitching. Also, consider buying smaller cuts or fat quarters to save money, especially if your project isn’t huge. And keep an eye out for sales or discount events—they can make a big difference! At the end of the day, finding a good balance between quality and price is key, especially when you’re managing a budget and maybe a baby or two running around. Happy hunting, and may your linen stash grow without the guilt!

I knew a lot of shops, but its depending on where you live,
shipping/ delivering cost as well.
did you try Google search for this.

Last year I bought some linen from Pineberry Lane
and the cost for shipping was immense.

Well thats exactly the problem. Either the linen is a ridiculous price and/or the cost of shipping is eye watering. I dont understand the shipping costs when I can send fabric from the UK to anywher  Details Reply Post time 2014-12-22 20:45

... but in Europe are many shops,
maybe you have enough time in the christmas holidays for searching.

Zweigart is near to me and sometimes I go there with a friend,
they have an outlet shop, where the fabric is a bit cheaper.
But my favorite is Filli Graziano - Siena from Italy
shop: Ricamiamo Insieme

Pronto ricamo Lino 15filli--180cm wide-28,00€/1 metre
isnt much expensive

I buy a lot from 1-2-3 Stitch in the USA.  They will sell cut pieces from 9x13, 13x18, etc. or as much as one yard lengths.  They have many choices in color, count, suppliers, and they ship very fast.  If you live in the USA, they ship within 1-3 days of purchase and it is extremely well priced for shipping (and fabric).  They will ship overseas but I dont know if the rates are perceived as good or not.  They are very reliable and I have bought from the for several years.

That is an excellent price Bleu.    I dont think I can buy a metre for that here in NA.

You can try ends of cuts.   I usually browse online the 15% off pieces at a local store and buy their remnants.   Mind you I have enough now to last me forever, or until I use up what I have.

I buy most of my linen from ebay in the usa.  Some shops ship international if need be.  Good luck, I love stitching on linen!

I can recommend lecomptoirdesfees. Just copy the name and do a search. Look under IBRODE, LINENS, and the name THIEFFRY. It is a french linen that is stiff and wonderful for handbags, pouches, ornaments, etc. It feels like Northerncross linen and is wonderful. It is 35 Euros a meter so is it is so much cheaper then Zweigart. You can also get this at Cathbroderie shop.
