This Cast off Technique invloves repeated Decreases. and creates a nice stretchy edge. This is also a variation of the traditional knit bind off, but forgoes the use of passing stitches over each other. it gives a nice clean edge. I really like this bind off my self.

now in my reasearch there there are afew way this is discribed i will post 2 here. there are also videos for this method as well if you are looking.

first method.

1. Knit 2 stitches
2. transfer both stitches back to the left hand needle
3. knit 2 together
4. knit next stitch.
5. slip both stitches to left needle and knit them together.
if you are binding off in ribbing. knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches.

second method

1. knit the ffirst stich as normal then place that worked stitch back on to the left hand needle.
now using your working needl place the needl purl wise that you just put back

2. keeping your needle in the purlwise position take the needle and inset your working need into the second stich on the main needle knitwise. Knit both stitches toether. then pull both stitches off the needle.

remember to put the stitch on the working needle to the main needle to do the next stitch.

i hope this was informative and helpfull
suggest on where to use this bindoff is for socks that you are doing from the toe up. and any other object where a stretchy bind off is necessary. a lot easier then the judy method in my opion. but not as stretchy either.

It is very elegant. How you measure length of yarn requirement? It is two lengths of the edge? Perhaps it is three lengths of the edge? Thank you for sharing and teaching!

Oh cool - thank you! I normally use Judy’s bind off for the stretch factor. This is a great option too.

thanks for posting - a good tip for a loose bind-off. I use it sometimes when Im kniting purses to squeeze into a clasp frame.
