This hat is worked from the bottom up. The cable ribbed brim is knitted first before moving onto the reverse stocking stitch and trellis pattern of the hat body. Instructions for this hat are provided in both written and charted format.
To fit an average size female head, approximately 21 inches/53 cm in circumference.
Finishing (page 18): Weave in your yarn ends and gently pin hat and mittens out to required size using rustproof pins. Apply steam being careful not to touch the hat or mittens with your iron and then leave until cool. If you have a mannequin head, you could use this to block your hat. Some knitters prefer to soak their finished garment before pinning out, whilst others prefer to pin out and spray with water. Always read the instructions on the ball band, as this will give directions on the best way to block a finished knitted piece.
NB. However you block, please remember to take care as you don’t want to flatten the texture of the trellis pattern on your hat or the trees on your mittens.
The shawl pictured has already been shared here. :) (not my share, though)
