Not a clue though I did find some tasks to earn coins...

Good question, I am curious too. You can earn coins by completing various tasks such as posting to forms, uploading patterns and bounties.

Yes you can, there are hourly tasks under My Center on the upper right corner, one daily task should be received when you log in every day, only once per 24 hours.

Posting on finished works or works in progress gives you 5 coins, but you can only post 26 times per hour.

You can also purchase coins via paypal.
