It is crescent shaped, and knit from the top down. The first section is a 4 by 4 inch rib punctuated by zig zag work, while the second section is an all-over Japanese lace with an embossed appearance due to numerous through-the-back-loop stitches. The shawl is bordered with a fluted ruffle.
