Price of Crochet pattern

Hello everybody !

I do not know about you but I have been shocked by the price of one of the last crochet pattern posted : 250 gold coins !!!
When I first registrated the average price was around 20 coins, it increased slowly towards 50 coins, when we saw the first 100 coins prices with other members we found it was exagerated ! But as members are ready to pay any price to have a pattern, it did not stop there...
I know perfectly that it is easy to earn coins on the pace, but not all of us can stay all day long to earn coins, we have a life beside, children, a job, a house to cope with !

Therefore I am wondering WHAT WILL BE THE LIMIT ?????

I am sorry if I disturb with this post, but I thought that the goal was to share, and now I just have the feeling to to be a customer like anyother who has to pay the highest price to get a pattern ! Why are the prices of free stuff limited and not the other patterns ???

I was also shocked by the 250. That is really not in the spirit of sharing. Its a good thing not everyone does this. Also, it would be nice if more members shared patterns, and not just the free ones. That is, after all, one of the easiest ways to get more gold coins

Yes, I often shoking by the price of the pattern from the crochet section... But very often very high price set such members who havent many share topics and for gettin some GCs they need to set very high price (my opinion). Even if the price very high, a member dont get very many GCs from this pattern.
Also a member couldnt share some bought pattern, perhaps a member was share a pattern for getting some GCs because as youve already written "but not all of us can stay all day long to earn coins, we have a life beside, children, a job, a house to cope with"!
So very often I set a bounty amount in my bounty request very high because I cant to have some pattern but I very-very like it! For some very valuable for me patterns which was share because of my bounty request I ready to pay very high price.
So I think its better if a member will share some pattern with more high price than not will share the pattern.

i see what you mean but somehow I do not agree, I too use the bounty area when I look for a special pattern and it is my choise to reward a high price, but in the crochet section I do not agree to pay such a high price knowing that many other people will "buy" the pattern, I see you are at level 5, that means you have quite an amount of GC, I am at level 2 and have quite some GC with the patterns I shared, and I never put a price higher than 50 GC.
I am not running after the levels, just posting what I intend to say, I can afford the pattern I whish, but somehow I refuse to play that game !!!!Ii fond it somehow insane. Is it becoming a place where we must earn the most to be able to get just a crochet pattern ?????? is it becoming just like the real world where money decides for everything ? Where has the sense of SHARE gone ????

I agree with you misseo and am offended by the greed of some members.  I believe a more reasonable price will mean more downloads which ultimately rewards the poster more in the long run.  Some new to the site may be more eager to quickly earn coins, but that goes against the premise of a sharing site.  I try to highly rate those who are sharing with a generous spirit in hopes the others will become aware of the dismay their high prices are bringing to others.  I often wish the site would allow you to post the same pattern at a lower price if you want to give members another option to bankrupting their gold coin balance.

I thaught my post would bring more reactions.....
What I wonder is why there isnt any limit in the rules. As you know there is another place like this one which name I will not mention, but there people are limited pricing free AND pay pattern and that allows members to affford any pattern. As you say some new members are eager to get coins quickly, but they should be aware that this is not the meaning of the place, at least as I always understood it, but perhaps was I wrong since the beginning without knowing !!!

So I must tell you that for getting level 5 I had to spend many time on that website and for creating my topics etc., and I think I earned my high level... So its members own choice: to be here online or to be with a family etc.

But what is 250 GCs today? You can get so many GCs during 5 days maximum (if you just will visit the site every day). Its aqually 50 GCs one year ago.

If you "refuse to play that game" - its your own choice, just ignore such topics with very high price and never download these patterns!

Im not happy from such high price in crochet section, but my opinions is: "its better if a member will share some pattern with more high price than not will share the pattern" and "even if the price very high, a member dont get very many GCs from this pattern".

What I mean in my comment is that asking so much for a pattern is exagerated. Of course i will never pay that much for a pattern here, but I had it on another place like this one for the equivalent of 20 coins, and the member who posted it will probably not receive as much reward as th one who posted it here !!!

Are you ready to pay 999 coins for a pattern here ?
In 3 years I have seen the average price increasing from 20 coins to 100 and it goes on, do you think this is a good thing ???

Why do we found more and more free patterns ?? which we can find for free !!! Just because members have to get more coins for the pay pattern, this will never end and this is what I am against.

When I first register, this place was fine, now it is becoming just a commercial place with virtual money but still with a commercial mind, no more a share mind. Sad !!! Very sad !!!

And yes it is every ones choice, but I did not choose to see the place become less convivial, just a place to find patterns !!!

You are sorry that you havent level 5 which I have, but you can choose: to stay here all day and have more high level and GCs or spend your own time with your family, job etc.

Also the site have "the highest price", its 9999 GCs if Im not mistake.

Once Ive seen here the pattern I like but I couldnt to download it due to very high download permissions. I asked some member to download the pattern for me, the member did this and Ive paid for this work 600 GCs or more. And yes I agree to pay 999 GCs if this pattern I very like but never can to buy it. As Ive wrote for patterns from my bounty requests I paid more than 999 GCs, you can see - my last bounty award have 9000 GCs for the pattern (http://bbs.pindiy.com/thread-276705-1-1.html).

I like this site because here I can find the pattern which I cant find anywhere. And here we have members who did repaints and scans only for this site (for examle, me), because of this I like this site. Another members only can to buy some pattern with real money and then share it here instead to share free patterns, Ive shared many patterns which I bought with real money and Ive did many repaints only for the members from this site so I have level 5 and I can to pay, for examlple, 300 GCs for a pattern.

I cant say anything about crossstitching pattern, I am not adept, and have no Idea of the value of such a pattern, I am only concerned by crochet pattern, which are not that expensive when I buy some, I have shared quite some patterns, not free ones, so I know what I am talking about, and I just think that as far as crochet is concerned, ans as the pattern is not rare but a new one, so one that has a chance anyway to be "shared" here quite a lot, it is quite disgusting to ask such a "price" here, but as long as people are ready to pay any price for anything, of course prices wont go down.

But as I say I am talking only about crochet (or knitting). I know that xstitch is something totally different, and I will not compare the difficulty to get a pattern in that category ! i have seen gorgeous things and I think if I were an adept I might thing just like you, but we are talking about another world with xstitches than crochet, and if the limit there is higher there is an explanation !!! The limi in ccrochet section is 999coins.

And dont forget that it is forbidden to ask someone to download a pattern for someone else, you might have troubles with the place !!!;P
