Inscribed is a simple triangular scarf or asymmetric shawl fit for daring beginners. The techniques included in this pattern are the most basic, garter stitch, a single easy increase method and stripes.
The main triangle is knitted in the bias, starting from the narrower end with 2 cast on stitches. Afterwards, you will be starting 2 out of 3 RS rows with a bar increase that wide the shawl creating the triangle shape. The border is knitted perpendicularly by adding a few stitches and working decreases that also bind off the live stitches of the shawl. When all of the original stitches have been used up, more stitches are picked up all along the lower edge of the shawl, where titches have been slipped knitwise to create a series a bumps where it is easy to pick up the stitches, and these new stitches are worked lengthwise to create the other border. This creates a frame that surrounds the shawl while at the same time adding movement, and visual and textural interest in to the shawl.
