Points Formula - How to Earn Points

I saw several people asking in various places about how to earn points.  They are a little more complicated than gold coins.  You need points to gain a higher user group and permissions.  It is explained but only in Chinese so here is a rough translation.

You get 0.1 points per post - for example thanking an uploader or admiring someones finished project.  

You earn 0.26 points for every topic/new thread you create.  Remember you cant just randomly start a thread for no reason to earn points.  Creating spam threads will get you in trouble.

You earn 5 points for choose digest thread .  
You also earn 1.5 points for every hour you spend on the site.

"Choose Digest" If your pattern is special or hard to find a moderator may choose your pattern.  Other places use Collection and Digest interchangeable.  You dont get points for members collections.

What if people are here to share patterns but the patterns they own are already on the site ?
, i have uploaded many patterns but i understand there are people around the World that cannot afford patterns, or do not have access to the patterns they love .
This is a fun site , why bring negativity?

i see that some people in order to get points only comment threads like saying "thanks for the share" but never downloading attachments.  seems a bit unfair, because i never do that, i suppose its some sort of cheating, just saying. and i totally understand, that IF this behavior could be monitored, it would a very time-consuming task...
