To be considered free on this site, a pattern needs to be available for everyone all the time, everywhere on the web.  If you need to sign up or be a member somewhere else, it is not free.

You dont have to be a member to download free patterns from Ravelry.

Not all free patterns are available from Ravelry for everyone without registration. Sometimes Ravelry will provide a link to another site where the pattern is free but only with registration or a membership. That would not be a free pattern.
