Triangles Shawl with Buttons by Madeleine Ballard - Free

The Triangles shawl is shaped to stay on nicely and a few buttons can give it sleeves. The mitered triangles piece is worked first, with the body of the shawl picked up from there.
For yardage, I used about 300 yards for the body of the shawl and less than 100 yards for the triangles section and the border rows. All worsted weight yarn.
I used a yarn with long repeats for the triangles section. The triangles could be knitted in one or more contrasting solids, alternating every 2 rows with the yarn used for the body.
