US crochet terms
M/N (9 mm) hook (or whatever size to match gauge)
Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors (or as many or few as you like)
I used Loops and Threads Impeccable in White and Cherry
Optional: 2 faux fur pom poms, or yarn pom poms
Stitch markers or scraps of yarn to mark ear flaps
Yarn needle

You can down size the pattern to make one for a child by going down to a J or a K hook.
