Gauge:  Using US 04 (3.5mm) and garter stitch, 24 sts and 16 rows to 4", though gauge isnt crucial
Needles:  40" or larger, US 04 (3.5mm)
Notions: stitch markers (LOTS), tapestry needle for weaving in ends
This pattern uses an abundance of short rows, and involves lots of counting.  I wouldnt try to work on this and watch tv at the same time.
