As the sun sets over the beautiful Cascade Mountains, the sky is transformed into a stunning display of hues; delighting the eyes of any artist. This epic backdrop serves as the inspiration for Sunset Over the Cascades: a collection of six shawl designs by Joyce Fassbender.
Beginning with the dark blue of dusk, then advancing through to soft yellow, vibrant orange, fiery red, cool purple, and finally the sparkling black of a star-studded night, each shawl follows along with the progression of colors found within a perfect sunset. Named for the mountains found in Washington state, each shawl is delightfully different in shape and yarn weight to create a range of textures and designs. The DK weight wings of Fernow have a beautifully detailed edging of triple yarn-overs. Rectangular El Dorado has golden coins running along its fine lace weight length. Shuksans crescent is a softly haloed light-weight dream, nestled with shimmering beads. The half-circle lace of Rainier is tipped with fiery darts. Triangular Glacier has sport weight scallops reminiscent of flowing ice. Gardners fingering weight square is a night sky lit up with a thousand beaded stars.
With so much variety, Sunset Over the Cascades is guaranteed to contain a project to tantalize the artist within every knitter.
