Oh really? I havent heard that but its not good news! The threads are already expensive enough in the UK and the rest of Europe anyway! We can pay 2-3 times the price for one skein as people do in the US! And its a French company. I think continuing to put up the prices of their thread is going to make more people consider buying the cheaper brands. I bought a full set of DMC colour comparative threads on Ebay for £32 which is about $42 which is great! Theyre not CXC but similar and the quality is fine - Ive used them a lot, the colours dont run and Ive matched them to the DMC colour and theres very little difference! I will buy another set at some point as Ive used quite a few of them now.
I use floss thats almost the same as DMC. The colors do not run out, even if you put them in boiling water, its very soft and shiny and with the DMC color numbers and I pay for less than 10 strands € 0,25 a piece, for more than 11 strands € 0,22 a piece. Im very happy with it :)
Here in Australia I can buy almost 2 skeins of Sullivans brand thread for the cost of a single DMC skein. It is more economical to buy the cheaper one as I am on a right budget.
DMC is not being very smart. They should actually try lowering their price to compete with their counterparts - Quantity sales over price increases usually works. The prices have gone up here in the US too.
