Question about cross stitch patterns

What is the difference in the scanned cross stitch patterns and the repaint ones?

Patterns (Scanned) are the charts that you find in magazines, books and can purchase. Repaints are actually software files that are made and edited using a program like Pattern Maker or PC Stitch and programs like that. Repaints are preferred by some stitchers because they take less space to store on a computer and using the software you can change colors and stitches right on the pattern. However, it should be noted that those programs can be pricey so that should be considered as well.

For viewing repaint files there is a free viewer from Pattern Maker as well. Check out the Cross Stitch Software section of this forum and you will find several programs etc.

Excellent reply by Jane Doe. I just want to add that you can get the full versions of both PatternMaker and PCStitch (and one or two others, but PM and PCS are by far the most common) in the Cross Stitch Software section - there are even a few versions to chose from for some of them.

Ok thanks for the clarification... so I searched for a pattern that you can buy. But the only pattern we have on here is under the repaint section not the scanned section. This is why I asked the original question. Im wondering,  is the repaint version just like the original pattern? Or is it not as good? Im trying to figure this out before I buy the repaint version.
