Organizing your craft

How do you organize all your crafty items or craft room if you have one? I would love some hints and tips if anyone is willing to share? Re-purposing old items to make them useful in relation to craft storage ideas would be really wonderful too please :)

Right now I need to get more organized and have everything sorted to make the most of my space so would love some help :D

I use Alex drawers from IKEA to contain most of my things. The only thing outside of them is my yarn, which occupies a few decorative boxes I found on sale at the craft store. I keep them organized by category or craft. From top to bottom drawers:
Journal stuff (paper, stickies, calligraphy etc)
Pens and other writing utensils (organized by color)
General/etc craft stuff (wire, cutting tools, origami paper, study flash cards, etc)
Embroidery
Sketchbooks

My things are pretty chaotic.  Try to cluster similar things together.  I keep one set of DMC on bobbins in number order.  I pull from there what I need for what Im working on, then return after finished that project.
